Dojo Etiquette

Members should observe strict personal hygiene.

Members should be punctual in attending the Club practices.

Aikidogi's must be kept clean.

The correct coloured belt should be worn at all times.

Hakama may only be worn by Dan grades and 1st Kyu grades or any person approved by the club Senior Instructor.

Zori (or other appropriate footwear) should be worn to and from the tatami.

No jewellery should be worn on the tatami.

No make-up to be worn on the tatami.

Long nails must be taped (or trimmed prior to practice) during practice.

Vests or T- shirts may be worn under the Aikidogi where appropriate.

Members must sit in grade order at the beginning and at the end of classes (Senior grades are furthest away from the entrance).

Members should ask permission from the Instructor prior to entering or leaving the tatami.

Members should bow (Rei) when entering or leaving the dojo.

Members to make the correct standing/sitting bow at the beginning and end of class or when changing partner.

Members should address Instructors as "Sensei" in the dojo.

The senior Club grade is in charge until an Instructor arrives. No tuition may be given unless the senior grade is Coach qualified and holds Professional Indemnity Insurance.

There should be no excessive talking during practice, and NO swearing.

There should be no smoking, drinking or eating on the tatami.

Anyone found to have partaken of alcohol or drugs prior to practice will not be allowed on the tatami.
