Proposed Addendum to Constitution
JUNIOR AIKIDO STUDENTS
1 May 2009

(Agreed at AGM 14 May 2009)

Definition: Junior shall mean all students under the age of 18 years of age.

1. All sessions shall be conducted in accordance with the club’s:-
• Child Protection Policy
• Equal Opportunities Policy
• Rules of Dojo Etiquette ( as set out in the Membership Licence)

2. An emergency contact number shall be provided for each Junior student, which will be available to the Class Instructor.

3. The grading syllabus shall be as that set out for all club members subject to the following:-
• Gradings shall be up to 1st Kyu only
• Knife techniques shall not be required for 1st Kyu gradings.

4. Immobilisation techniques shall not be applied on the joint.

5. All classes shall be instructed by a fully qualified BAB Level 1 Coach or above, (N.B. All Coaches are expected to obtain the Children & Young People’s Coaching Award).

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR JUNIOR MEMBERS

TAR is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all its members. The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the club should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. Therefore, members are encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club with Glenn Kapel, Coach.

As a member of the club you are expected to abide by the club’s  Code of conduct for Members & Dojo Etiquette.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS/CARERS

  • Encourage your child to learn the rules and practice within them.
  • Discourage unfair play and arguing with coaches
  • Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.
  • Never force your child to take part in martial arts
  • Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performances of all.
  • Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.
  • Publicly accept officials’ judgements.
  • Support your child’s involvement and help them to enjoy their martial art.
  • Use correct and proper language at all times.
  • Encourage and guide performers to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour
